"Ordinary Boy" is a collection of true and humorous stories that illustrates the life of a simple, everyday guy who struggles to get his world of panic attacks, prostitution, and action figures to co-exist with the regular world around him
Ordinary Boy A Memoir Gabriel Mendez 9781456307417 Books
Read this book as an unedited manuscript, because that's basically what it is. The stories and writing style are charming. The author's openness and perspective are endearing. I'm not a huge fan of people in their twenties writing memoirs (see Britney Spears), but this kid has many tales to tell. You'd expect to hear this stuff from a middle-aged man reminiscing on his youthful transgressions, but the author uses the memoir as a way to both record and process a number of fairly recent events. It's a cheap book and is worth the read for anyone who a) is not easily offended and b) understands using laughter as a defense mechanism.
